MR. MERRETT: The only thing that I would make
clear for the record is that obviously what the Court
proposes is judicial licensure of the press which is
obviously not a concept contemplated under the First
Amendment.
 
THE COURT: Well, I’m not going to debate it
with you. I want the record real clear. I’m not licensing
any press. They’re always welcome in my chambers.
 
MR. MERRETT: Yes.
 
THE COURT: Do you want her to read back what I
said previously? You’re giving me that dumb look, and I
thought maybe it’s just something you’re missing in what I
said.
