The Church of Scientology's continued policies and actionsthat harm people have prompted critics of the Church from around the world toschedule a 6th annual nonviolent demonstration against Scientology at theChurch's spiritual world headquarters in Clearwater Florida. Pickets will befrom 10am to 3pm Saturday December 2 and 10am to 3pm Sunday December 3, at the200 block of South Ft. Harrison Avenue in Clearwater.

The night of Dec 2, a candlelight vigil will be held at 7pm near theFt. Harrison Hotel where Lisa McPherson, a Scientologist for 18 years, diedunder mysterious circumstances. Previous candlelight demonstrations have beenaired on NBC's Public Eye show. Lisa's estate is suing Scientology for wrongfuldeath. Much information on her case is on the internet (www.lisamcpherson.org,www.lisatrust.net), including Scientologists' logs of her last 17 days, autopsyphotos, and similar cases involving Scientology's policy of imprisoning membersthey have labelled as "psychotic."

Scientology has consistently attempted to thwart these annual pickets withincredible actions, such as tearing up their own sidewalks, renting severalU-Haul trucks to hide the picketers, putting up hundreds of Christmas treesalong the sidewalk, and other such antics.

Scientology has attempted to silence critics by distributing libelousmaterial in critics' neighborhoods, by harassing protesters, sending privateinvestigators to intimidate, attempting to close down the internet newsgroupalt.religion.scientology, and by suing critics and the media. Church membershave harassed and intimidated peaceful protesters at previous pickets inClearwater and elsewhere.
