In the book Inside Scientology, by Robert Kaufman (copyright 1972), on page 77 he writes of the head of the New York org's experiences at St. Hill, England: "...he was held prisoner for several days in the basement of the Castle, a makeshift structure Hubbard had built at one end of the training-shanties to evade British construction laws, which, in the '50s prohibited a foreigner from building anything but a castle."
