March 27, 2001 Scientology found guilty of libel in Minton v. Scientology et al.
A German court in Berlin has ruled that Scientology is guilty of libel for
deliberately spreading false and intentionally biased information about
Robert Minton in its German Freedom magazine, known as Freiheit, and in
fliers distributed in Germany. The judge found that Scientology libeled
Minton regarding his role in Nigerian debt buy-back operations between 1988
and 1993, and also concerning his loan to Ursula Caberta, head of the
Hamburg Working Group on Scientology. Read the decision in German in PDF format or in the English translation by Joe Cisar.
